On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa from Nepal, became the first confirmed climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest. They were part of a British expedition led by John Hunt.

Every year on May 29, The Everest Base Camp hosts the Mt Everest marathon.

If you enjoy combining Running and Mountains - this is the Dream of all Dreams!

I was fortunate I got experience the Everest marathon in May of 2009.

“There was a language in the world that everyone understood. It was the language of enthusiasm, of things accomplished with love and purpose, and as a part of a search for something believed in and desired.”

My Itinerary:

2 weeks exploring the Langtang valley with Tenji sherpa

2 weeks trekking to the EBC with a large, international group of endurance runners

Kala Pathar acclimatisation

Mt Everest Marathon 🥇 (international category)

Another week of exploring the Kathmandu valley

There’s no place like the Himalayas! I highly recommend it to all adventure lovers!
